Q. Why should I volunteer at the Samaritan Center?

A. When you volunteer with us, the tasks you undertake are ultimately helping local families and individuals get back on their feet again.

Q. How old do I have to be to volunteer?

A. Volunteers must be 17 or older to volunteer alone. However, if you volunteer alongside an adult volunteer, you may be as young as four years old.

Q. Are there special benefits for those volunteers who are 55 and older?

A. Yes, the Samaritan Center partners with RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) so that seniors can get meal vouchers and partial reimbursement for their gas when they come to volunteer at the Center. For more information, click here.

Q. What kinds of things do volunteers do?

Volunteers help us with a lot of tasks such as sorting, assisting with light maintenance, putting puzzles together at home, crocheting, checking games, and more.

Q. What are the benefits of volunteering at the Center?

A. The Center offers a flexible schedule of meaningful yet enjoyable tasks that you choose. Plus, for those who are 55+, you can sign up for special perks with here.

Q. When I can I volunteer?

A. Volunteers are welcome during our office hours from 9 am to 5 pm from Monday through Thursday. If you cannot come during these times, special arrangments can be made.

There is no minimum volunteer time, but often the most fulfilling experiences are those which happen over an extended period of time during which relationships can be built. We have all sorts of volunteers, ranging from those who work one or two hours to those who work here full-time.

We are very flexible; volunteers can come in on a daily, weekly, monthly, or even yearly basis. Of course, the more often volunteers can come, the more they help us move towards our goal of offering Help for Today and Hope for Tomorrow to our community.

Q. How do I get started?

A. The first step to becoming a volunteer is filling out our volunteer application. You can find it online or call 423.238.7777 to have one mailed to your home. After you have filled out the application and returned it to us we will contact you for a brieft interview.
