The Samaritan Center is excited to announce that our community has reached the $8,000 goal we set for our Haitian Disaster Aid Matching Fund. Thanks to you, we were able to send $16,000 in disaster aid towards the Haitian relief efforts.
Since Hurricane Katrina, the Center's disaster relief fund had been accumulating. When we heard about the great need in Haiti, we knew we wanted to use that money to help with Haitian disaster relief.
The total in our fund was $8,000, so we decided to set up a matching fund to invite the community to give. We asked our local ministerial association to recommend organizations for the funds to benefit, and that is how we decided on:
• ADRA (Adventist Development and Relief Agency)
• IDES (International Disaster Emergency Service)
• PDA (Presbyterian Disaster Assistance)
• UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief)
