Personal Care Items

About 2000 years ago, wise men known as magi traveled thousands of miles in search of a king.

When they found him, their hearts leapt with joy, their mouths filled with worship, and their hands quickly emptied of the gifts they had borne throughout their long journey.

Although that king - Jesus - no longer occupies a cradle on this earth, we can still offer him gifts today by ministering to the needs we see in the community around us. That’s where Gifts for Jesus comes in.

During Gifts for Jesus, churches and community participants are invited to donate new items that cannot be purchased with food stamps, such as personal care products and home cleaning supplies.

Laundry detergent, dish detergent, and toilet paper are some of our community’s the most consistent needs.

Sometimes donors make Gifts for Jesus a special step in their church service; other times they just drop their gifts at the Samaritan Center when they stop by to shop. Either way, the Center soon gets started matching gifts with neighbors in need.

Although the Gifts for Jesus drive takes place close to Christmas, the Center distributes these special gifts throughout the year. After all, need has no season; aid shouldn’t either.

To find out more about how you can participate in Gifts for Jesus, contact the Center at 238-7777, extension 23.
